Our farmers markets wind down in October, but we're giving our Bellaire and Harbor Springs customers one last opportunity to stock up on local chicken for the winter. The Winter Chicken Share lets you reserve chickens and tells us which cuts your family prefers.
Choose whole chickens, request a mix of cuts, or let us know your preferences.
We're opening a limited number of reservations, giving you a chance to put Driftwood Pastures Co. chicken in the freezer for the months ahead.
This is a little different from ordering chicken at the market. You'll reserve your chickens before we process them and tell us how you'd like them prepared. Keep them whole, choose the cuts your family uses most, or request a mix — we'll do our best to build your order around your preferences.
And if there are cuts you don't need, you can choose to have them donated to a local food pantry rather than letting good food go to waste. You'll still pay for those portions of your reserved chickens, but a family in our community gets to enjoy them.
1. Reserve your chickens.
Choose how many chickens you'd like to stock up on (minimum 2). Our birds average around 4.5 lb, although individual birds and packages will vary.
2. Tell us what you prefer.
Let us know which cuts you use most and whether you'd like your chickens whole, processed into a mix of cuts, or customized around your preferences.
3. We process your chickens.
We'll use the combined preferences from all of our winter stock-up reservations to plan the processing and make the best use of every chicken.
4. Pick up your order.
Once your chicken is processed, packaged and frozen, we'll confirm your final order and pickup details. Your $25 reservation deposit will be applied in full to your purchase.
We're keeping this year's Winter Share intentionally limited. Once the available chickens for the final processing runs are reserved, we'll close availability

Because we're taking reservations before processing, we can't guarantee specific cuts, quantities, or package sizes. We'll do our best to accommodate your preferences based on what we receive from the processor.
Reservations are filled first-come, first-served, with priority given to orders that help us make use of the whole chicken. Customers requesting a mix of cuts, or taking their chickens whole, will therefore have priority over orders requesting only breasts or only thighs. This helps us minimize excess inventory of individual cuts.
If we're unable to fulfill a significant portion of your requested order, we'll contact you before pickup. At that point, you may choose an alternative selection or have your $25 deposit refunded.
Final pricing will be based on the actual items and package weights in your order, using our current prices listed on the website. Your $25 reservation deposit will be applied in full to your final purchase.
