meet your farmers

We are a husband-and-wife team running a regenerative farm business right in the heart of Northern Michigan.

We draw inspiration from the beautiful rolling hills and Chain of Lakes where our farm is based. And this results in a desire to deeply connect our farm and what we produce with the beautiful land and water that surrounds us and to produce a positive impact on the environment and our local community

We do this by:

  • Ethically raising our animals

  • Operating as a regenerative farm

  • Producing pasture-raised chickens

our standards

We believe in the saying ‘you are what you eat and what your food eats’.

Our meat is pasture-raised; non-GMO; hormone and antibiotic free. That means we don’t cut corners, and we focus on producing nutrient-dense, great tasting meat for our customers.

Pasture-raised means: our animals spend the majority of their lives outdoors, grazing Michigan grass, soaking up Michigan sun, and feeling that cooling Michigan lake breeze. That’s why our meat tastes so good.

Simply put:

  • We grow healthier food

  • We produce tastier food

  • We nurture and heal the land

  • We connect our customers with their food - they know exactly where it comes from

  • We contribute to the local economy

OUR FARMING PRactices

Our pasture-raised chickens spend the majority of their lives outdoors and on pasture. To be able to do this, we only raise chicken for a few short months out of the year.

  • Our chickens only eat non-GMO feed, and our chickens supercharge their diet with the natural vitamins and minerals only available to them from pasture.

  • Our chickens are happy, healthy, and active. We give our chickens fresh pasture daily, to keep our birds active and healthy. That means our chicken is antibiotic-free, hormone-free and vaccine-free.

  • Our chickens are produced using regenerative farming practices, which means we’re using farming practices that improve the environment, soil and our health. Our farming principles are based on the Joel Salatin model from Polyface Farms.

our story

Our name embraces the unique Northern Michigan lifestyle and landscape we call our home and the foundation for how we farm.

Driftwood is a reflection of natural beauty and nature’s rhythm. It washes up on our lake shores, with a story shaped by time and water.

Pastures grounds us in what we do and what our farm is about. Our animals are raised on pasture and as farmers we thoughtfully manage how they graze the grass. In doing so, we create a cycle of nourishment for the soil, the grass, the animals, and our customers.

We chose Driftwood Pastures Co. because it reflects who we are, the legacy we want to build, and a deep connection to place and our Northern Michigan community.
