Ordering & Pickup
We want to make it easy and worry free!
-
We sell our chicken through our online farm store. Simply place your order before the weekly cutoff (midnight Thursday), and your chicken will be ready for pickup or delivery on Friday.
-
Each week has a specific cutoff time for orders so we can pack everything fresh and safely. The cutoff time every week is midnight Thursday.
-
We offer home delivery on Fridays. If we offer delivery to your area, that option will appear at checkout. Our Friday delivery routes include Bellaire, Rapid City, Kewadin, Eastport, Elk Rapids and Central Lake Zip Codes.
-
If you know you won’t be home at the time of delivery, please leave us instructions at checkout for a safe place to leave your order. Your chicken will be delivered frozen.
During warmer weather, we strongly recommend leaving a cooler outside for us to place your order in, along with additional ice packs if possible. This helps ensure your chicken stays in perfect condition.
If we ever feel unsure that your order can be left safely when making a delivery, we will always try to contact you first before making a decision.
-
Pickup is available year-round at the Bellaire Farmers Market. The exact location and time window will be provided in your order confirmation email.
-
Please contact us as soon as possible. Because this is perishable food, missed pickups may not be refundable, but we’ll always do our best to work with you.
-
Yes! Just have them bring your order confirmation.
-
We restock based on our harvest schedule. And because we raise our birds outdoors and seasonally, availability is limited. Once a product is sold out, it may not be available again until the next growing season in the Spring
About Our Chicken
Learn about how we raise our birds.
-
Our chickens live the majority of their lives outdoors on pasture, where they can forage, scratch, dust bathe, and express their natural chicken behaviors. Our chickens are moved daily to fresh grass, which improves their health, the quality of the meat, and the land itself.
-
Our birds are raised on pasture, with access to fresh air, sunshine, grass, and room to move. We prioritize animal welfare, land stewardship, and nutrient-dense food.
-
In addition to pasture forage, our chickens receive natural, Non-GMO feed to ensure proper nutrition and healthy growth.
-
No. We do not use added hormones (which are illegal in poultry anyway), and we do not use antibiotics or vaccines.
-
No. Once our birds are mature and strong enough (typically at 2.5 – 3 weeks old), they live outside on pasture, not in confinement barns.
Quality, Safety & Processing
What happens after the pasture matters, too.
-
Our chicken is processed at a small enterprise exempt facility, which is inspected and licensed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDARD)
-
All chicken is vacuum sealed for freshness and safety.
-
Our chicken is frozen immediately after processing to lock in freshness, flavor, and nutrients.
-
Properly frozen, vacuum-sealed chicken can last indefinitely in a standard freezer.

We are a licensed food retail establishment, inspected by the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDARD)
Cooking & Taste
Our favorite part!
-
Yes—in a good way. Many customers describe it as richer, cleaner, and having better texture than grocery store chicken. We often hear our customers say that our chicken ‘ “actually tastes like chicken”.
-
Pasture-raised chicken is leaner than industrial chicken, so it cooks faster and benefits from gentler heat. Overcooking can dry it out. We always recommend using a meat thermometer for best results.
-
You may notice deeper color, firmer texture, and more variation than grocery store chicken. That’s normal for birds that actually move, exercise, and live outdoors.
-
Yes! We regularly share cooking tips, recipes, and meal ideas through our newsletter and social media.
Pricing & Value
We provide a premium product that is good value for money.
-
Because it costs more to raise food the right way. Our birds:
Live longer
Have more space
Eat more feed
Require more labor
Improve the land
You’re paying for real animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and nutrient-dense food— we try our hardest to make this affordable, but without compromising on quality.
-
Most of our customers say once they try it, they can’t go back. Better flavor, better texture, and peace of mind knowing exactly where your food came from.
-
Because every bird is slightly different.
Our chickens are raised naturally on pasture, which means they grow at different rates—just like people do. Rather than forcing them into a uniform size, we let them grow at their own pace.
That’s why we price by weight bands instead of exact weights.
Each band represents a small weight range, and the price reflects the average weight within that range. This keeps things simple, fair, and predictable for you—while still honoring the reality of real, naturally raised animals.
-
Yes. Each pricing band clearly shows the expected weight range, so you’ll always know approximately how large your bird or cut will be.
-
We could—but that system often creates confusion, delays, and constantly changing totals at pickup.
Using bands allows us to:
• Keep checkout simple
• Avoid surprise price changes after checkout
• Pack orders efficiently
• Reduce waste
• Make planning easier for customersIt also ensures you always know what you’re paying for before you order.
-
Yes, but only within the stated band range. Sometimes you’ll get a bird or cut on the larger end, sometimes on the smaller—but never outside the range you selected.
Many customers end up pleasantly surprised by slightly larger birds
Storage
Avoid freezer anxiety!
-
Roughly 1 cubic foot of freezer space can hold about 30–35 pounds of meat. Whole birds take up more space than this.
-
Yes! We offer individual cuts as well as bundles.
